The Snowden affair has highlighted the risks of data breaches that originate from the inside.  There are many examples of insiders that organizations need to be wary of and prepare for: disgruntled employees, top drawer talent that's on the move, spies that are planted with malicious intent, or in Snowden's case-the so-called whistleblower.

According to a recent Forrester Research report entitled "Understand the State of Data Security and Privacy", 25 percent of survey respondents said that abuse by a malicious insider was the most common way in which a breach occurred in the past year at their company, while 36 percent of breaches were caused by employee mistakes, making it the current top cause of most data breaches.

Please join ISACA Vancouver and our panel of experts from industry, academia, and the security solution provider community to explore how the Snowden ripple effect is influencing the security market and the way organizations view and craft their security programs. The panel will comprise:

  • Michael Argast, Director, TELUS Security Solutions Western Canada
  • Fiaaz Walji, Country Manager Websense Canada
  • Larry Carson, Associate Director, Information Security Management, UBC
