Creating a Relevant Cyber Security Governance Framework: Supporting Business Digital Transformation

Dominic Vogel (Chief Security Strategist, Cyber.SC)

Today’s businesses are transforming how they operate. This change is a result of major technological, intellectual, and behavioural changes that are affecting all industries and magnifying cybersecurity challenges to seemingly uncontrollable risk levels. Much of this can be attributed to advancements in cloud, data analytics, mobile, and social media. The rise of these tools and technologies has created a pressing need for formal guidance which can help organizations drive cybersecurity programs more effectively.

Improved governance is necessary for organizations that are struggling to define an infrastructure that aligns with business needs while at the same time follows industry standards and norms. Governance plays a critical role in achieving the security objectives of the organization, not only for current needs, but for future challenges as well. This talk will address:

• Pressing need for formal guidance to help organizations with cybersecurity challenges

• Practical steps for establishing relevant governance that aligns with and supports business strategy

Dominic has an established track record as a cyber security leader. He has a wide-range of experience overseeing numerous projects including security strategy development, policy development, endpoint security, and threat management in a multitude of industries (financial services, logistics, transportation, government, telecommunications, and critical infrastructure). Dominic has performed as a speaker for BrightTALK Security Summits, Cyber Security Summit Canada West, NYIT Cyber Security Symposium, Vancouver Enterprise Forum, ISACA CSX, RSA Conference 2017, and InfoSecWorld 2017. Currently, in his role as Chief Security Strategist at Cyber.SC, Dominic focuses much of his energy on helping start-ups and small/midsize businesses solve their cyber security challenges. He strives to provide practical cybersecurity advisory services to his clients.
